Your safety is our top priority. Please review these important guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience on the water.

Captain's Authority

The Captain is in Full Command

Our experienced, licensed captains have absolute authority over the vessel and all passengers. Their primary responsibility is ensuring everyone's safety, and their decisions are final.

You Must Follow All Captain Instructions

  • Listen carefully to the safety briefing before departure
  • Follow all instructions regarding movement around the vessel
  • Comply with seating requirements during docking and high-speed maneuvers
  • Respect decisions about swimming areas and water activities
  • Failure to follow instructions may result in immediate return to dock without refund

Life Jackets & Safety Equipment

Life Jacket Requirements

  • Children under 13: Must wear life jackets at all times while on deck
  • Non-swimmers: Strongly recommended to wear life jackets throughout the trip
  • Swimming activities: Life jackets available and recommended for all swimmers
  • Coast Guard approved: All life jackets meet federal safety standards

Safety Equipment On Board

  • Coast Guard-approved life jackets for all passengers
  • Fire extinguishers strategically placed
  • First aid kit with essential medical supplies
  • Emergency radio and signaling devices
  • Emergency flares and sound signals
  • Throwable flotation devices

Important: The captain will show you the location of all safety equipment during the pre-departure briefing. Please pay attention and ask questions if anything is unclear.

Movement & Behavior Guidelines

Safe Movement on Deck

  • Always use handrails when moving around the boat
  • Move carefully and deliberately, especially when the deck is wet
  • Stay seated during docking, anchoring, and high-speed maneuvers
  • Never sit on the bow or railings while the boat is in motion
  • Keep the deck clear of personal items that could become tripping hazards
  • Wear non-slip footwear; avoid high heels or smooth-soled shoes

Prohibited Behaviors

Strictly Forbidden

  • Smoking anywhere on the vessel
  • Excessive alcohol consumption
  • Illegal drug use
  • Jumping or diving from the boat
  • Standing on seats or railings

Safety Violations

  • Ignoring captain's instructions
  • Interfering with boat operation
  • Bringing glass containers on board
  • Loud or disruptive behavior
  • Unauthorized use of equipment

Swimming & Water Activities

Swimming is Only Permitted When Authorized

Swimming is only allowed when the captain gives explicit permission and the engine is completely off. We anchor in safe, designated areas with appropriate depth and conditions.

Swimming Safety Rules

  • Wait for captain's permission before entering the water
  • Never dive headfirst - shallow areas may be present
  • Always use the swim ladder to re-enter the boat
  • Stay close to the boat at all times
  • Buddy system recommended - swim with a partner
  • Exit water immediately if captain requests

Water Safety Equipment

  • Swim ladder for safe boat re-entry
  • Throwable flotation devices available
  • Fresh water shower for rinsing
  • Towels recommended (bring your own)
  • Life jackets available for all swimmers

Swimming Restrictions

  • No swimming in channels or high-traffic areas
  • No swimming during rough weather or strong currents
  • Swimming may be restricted due to marine life activity
  • Captain may prohibit swimming based on conditions

Weather & Environmental Safety

Sun Protection

Recommended Items to Bring

  • High SPF sunscreen (30+ recommended)
  • Sunglasses with UV protection
  • Wide-brimmed hat or cap
  • Light, long-sleeved shirt for coverage
  • Plenty of water for hydration

Sun Safety Tips

  • Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before departure
  • Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours
  • Seek shade when possible
  • Stay hydrated throughout the trip
  • Watch for signs of heat exhaustion

Weather Monitoring

Our captains continuously monitor weather conditions and marine forecasts. We may need to modify routes or return early if conditions deteriorate.

Conditions That May Affect Your Trip:

  • Thunderstorms or lightning activity
  • High winds (typically over 25 mph sustained)
  • Rough seas or dangerous wave conditions
  • Dense fog reducing visibility
  • Extreme temperatures

Medical & Emergency Information

Pre-Trip Medical Disclosure

Please inform the captain of any medical conditions, allergies, or medications that might affect your safety on the water.

Important Medical Considerations:

  • Heart conditions or recent cardiac events
  • Pregnancy (especially in later stages)
  • Recent surgeries or injuries
  • Severe allergies (especially to marine life)
  • Medications that cause drowsiness
  • Mobility limitations

Emergency Procedures

In Case of Emergency

  • Remain calm and follow captain's instructions
  • Alert the captain immediately of any medical emergency
  • Know the location of safety equipment
  • Stay with the group and don't panic

Emergency Equipment

  • VHF radio for Coast Guard communication
  • GPS and emergency position beacon
  • First aid kit with basic medical supplies
  • Emergency flares and signaling devices
